November...

Een beetje later dan normaal (er kwam iets heel belangrijks tussendoor ;o)  ), maar de nieuwsbrief van november is verzonden naar de leden. Country Calendar BOM - Augustus

Goedemorgen!
Kun je het geloven dat het alweer augustus is? Ligt het aan mij of vinden jullie ook dat het zo snel gaat? Wat heb ik het afgelopen weekend genoten van het heerlijke weer! De Guldenroede staat in bloei en het een drukte van jewelste. De bijen van de buurman vliegen af en aan om nectar om te zetten in heerlijke honing. Vlinders heb ik ook al veel gezien, vooral in Frankrijk, daar zaten hele grote. Op het Country Calendar blokje van deze maand zit er ook een. Je vindt hem op onze website bij de Freebies.

Good morning!
Can you believe it's August already? Is it just me or does time fly by? I did enjoy the beautiful Summer weather last weekend! The Goldenrod in our garden is in full bloom and our neighbour's bees are flying on and off to get nectar for their delicious honey. I did see many butterflies as well, especially in France, where there were really big ones. There's also one on this month's Country Calendar block. You can find the pattern in the Freebie section on our website.

Country Calendar BOM - Leren vliegen...!

En toen was het alweer mei... De mussen hebben kleintjes en de mini merels leren zelfs al vliegen! Ze worden tussendoor gevoerd door papa merel, die tientallen lekkernijen van tussen de grassprietjes pikt. Van al die vlieglessen wordt je hongerig!

May... a new month... De sparrows have babies and the mini blackbirds are learning to fly! Papa blackbird is feeding them dozens of treats from our lawn. Flying isn't that easy and it must make the little ones tired and hungry!

Country Calendar BOM - het is lente!

Deel 4 van onze gratis Country Calendar BOM is een lief konijn, echt een symbool van de lente!
Ik heb de blokken eenvoudig gehouden zodat iedereen, ongeacht hoe groot je stofvoorraad is of hoeveel andere materialen je thuis hebt liggen, een soortgelijk blok kan maken. Natuurlijk kun je het zelf nog versieren, met een pompon als staartje of knoopjes als bloemen.
Het patroon vind je op onze website. Kijk ook eens naar Mams' haar geappliceerde versie, die is zo leuk!

Part 4 of our free Country Calendar BOM is a cute little bunny, a real symbol of Spring if you ask me! 
I have kept the blocks simple, so that everybody, regardless of how large ones stash is or how many craft supplies one has, can make a similar block. Of course you can brighten it up a little, with a pompon tail or you can add buttons as flowers.
The pattern can be found on our website. Make sure to check out Mams' appliquéd version as wel, it's really cute!

"Tulpen uit Amsterdam"... Country Calendar BOM

In maart maakten we het derde blok van onze Country Calendar BOM: "tulpen uit Amsterdam".

In 2009 werden we echt overdonderd door het enthousiasme van de deelnemers. Toen we startten hadden we niet gedacht dat er zóveel mensen aan deze BOM zouden meedoen. Deelneemsters van Nederland en België tot Amerika en van Rusland tot Latijns-Amerika stuurden ons foto's van hun werkjes. We hebben alle foto's verzameld in het Fotoalbum op onze website. Recent heb ik ook een Pinterest pagina aangemaakt. Ik zal (stukje bij beetje, want het zijn er heel wat!!) de foto's ook daar op toevoegen.

Ben je recent gestart met de BOM en vind je het leuk om jouw blokjes of mini quiltjes te laten zien, dan kun je ze mij via mail doorsturen of ze posten op Facebook. Vergeet dan niet om mij te taggen (@Ellie's Quiltplace of @Ellen Remijnse).

In March, we made the third block of our Country Calendar BOM: "tulips from Amsterdam", like the song. 

Back in 2009 we were overwhelmed by the enthousiasm of all participants. When we started, we didn't expect so many people to join. We received pictures from participants from The Netherlands and Belgium to the USA and from Russia to Latin America. We collected all pictures in the Photo Gallery which you can find on our website. I recently started a Pinterest page. I will add the pictures there (bit by bit, because there are many!!) as well. 

If you joined recently and you would like to share a picture of your Country Calendar blocks or mini quilts, you can e-mail them to us or post them on Facebook and make sure to tag me (@Ellie's Quiltplace or @Ellen Remijnse).

De Country Calendar BOM... Februari

Onze website is ge-update en onze nieuwsbrief (klik) verzonden naar de leden. Er staat deze maand een heel lief nieuw patroontje in (daarover later meer), ik laat het resultaat van het Mini Quiltje van januari zien en nog veel meer.
En op mijn blog is het tijd voor het februari blok van onze gratis Country Calendar BOM. Mams heeft haar blokken geappliceerd (klik), dat ziet er ook heel leuk uit. Beide technieken zijn mogelijk met dit patroon. Veel plezier ermee!

Our website has been updated and our newsletter (click) is send to the members. There's a really cute new pattern this month (more about that later), I show  you the result of the January Mini Quilt and much more.
And on my blog, it's time to show you the February block of our free Country Calendar BOM. Mams has made her blocks in appliqué (click), which looks really cute as well. Both techniques are possible with this pattern. Enjoy!

2016... en 'n kleine terugblik...

Allereerst wens ik je een heel gelukkig en gezond nieuwjaar. Hopelijk een jaar vol lapjes, draadjes en mooie quilts :o)
Bedankt voor al jullie lieve reacties op mijn laatste bericht over Thijsje. In de loop van volgende week hopen we de uitslag van de onderzoeken van het labo te krijgen.

Thank you for your sweet comments on my last post about Thijsje. Next week we will get the results from the lab.

In dit eerste berichtje van 2016 wilde ik je graag mijn eerste deel van de Country Calendar BOM laten zien. Dit was een gratis patroon in 2009. Quiltsters van over heel de wereld maakten van deze maandelijkse patroontjes mini quilts of één grote quilt. Wat was dat leuk! Zeven jaar later is de BOM nog altijd populair: er wordt genoten van de quilt(je)s die ophangen en er zijn telkens ook nog mensen die aan deze quilt beginnen. De 12 patronen zijn immers nog altijd gewoon te vinden op onze website: klik op Patronen -> Freebies.

For this first post of 2016, I chose to show you the first part of my Country Calendar BOM. This was a free pattern back in 2009. Many quilters worldwide joined and made the monthly patterns into mini quilts or a large quilt. We had so much fun! Seven years later, still many people enjoy this BOM: either making it or displaying the finished quilt(s). The 12 free patterns are still available on our website: click Patterns -> Freebies.

Show & Tell...

Ik laat het schrijven vandaag even aan enkele andere dames over. Zij stuurden ons namelijk foto's van hun projecten. Dames, laat maar zien!

Dear Ellie,

Our trip to Spain was very agreeable and we're now enjoying the Spanish sun & the seaside breeze...

It took me some days to take my "marks" and new routines, but the first quilty project I had in mind was your pretty pincushion...

Now it's done and I'm sending you some pictures of my version, as promised.

The whole proceed worked like a breeze, thanks to your clear explanations, and I only replaced the ribbon by a button (just because I had no ribbon on hand).

I love it very much and am planning to make some more for Xmas gifts ;>)

Now back to my two BIG handpiecing projects :

- little baskets (I need 300 of them)

- Dutch Treat - in blue Delft colors on white - as a hommage to my dear mum, who was of Dutch origin...

Hope being able to blogpost very soon.  In the meantime, I'm sending my best thoughts to you, in friendship.

HOi Ellen,

Ben nu druk met alle stofjes uit te zoeken [voor 'There's No Place Like Home'].... Het wordt mijn ALLEReerste quilt van een patroon.....dus ik vind het wel SPANNEND !!!! Ik heb overigens wel de maandquilt gemaakt van de freebies maar dat was elke maand een lapje stitchen en dan aan het einde pas nadenken over wat er mee te doen. Het is een groot wandkleed geworden boven de eettafel (zie bijlage) eerst wilde ik er een deken van maken voor zoonlief maar vond hem te kwetsbaar.....(de quilt dan!)
Hoe vindt je het.......?
